The bright colors and tiny dot work is inspired by the work of aboriginal dot paintings. The various dot patterns in Australian painting have different meanings. The one used on this egg, the concentric circles, is a symbol for villages and places where people come together.
Australian dot painting has a very old heritage, from the morning of the world. Today's Australian dot painting is very much kindred to the dot painting you find in Mexican folk art and the kind of dot paintings you see in the Ukraine and Russia. Go dots! It stands 3" tall and has a flat, felted bottom. Humans love dots!
My artisan eggs are hand painted wooden eggs painted with porcupine quills and hand cut miniature brushes using acrylic paint. The eggs are then hand dipped into a two part resin creating a glass like surface and protecting it. Felt is applied to the bottom. There are no other eggs like them.
The photos are taken with day spectrum lighting on a table top photo studio, yes the colors really are that bright and vivid!
